About the IHTA
The Irish Health Trade Association was established to represent the interests of manufacturers, importers and distributors of Natural Health Care products on the Irish market.
These products include herbal preparations, homeopathic products, vitamin and mineral supplements, flower remedies, natural body care products, health foods and food supplements.
A principal aim of the Association is to gain wide spread recognition for the valuable role that these natural health care products can play in improving the health status of the population.

The principle aim of the Irish Health Trade Association is to promote the wellness of all people in Ireland and to ensure they have freedom to access traditional medicines and natural health products of their choice that are safe, efficacious and of high quality.
Appropriate Regulation.
The Association has campaigned for many years to have an appropriate regulatory system in place at official level, which would allow the widest possible availability of these products while safeguarding public health, and ensuring quality standards of manufacture and distribution.
The IHTA has established positive consultative links with the national regulators.
Executive Council and Working Parties.
The Constitution of the IHTA provides for the election of an Executive Council to oversee the work of the Association.
Council meet regularly under the direction of the Chair of the Association.
The IHTA Code of Practice sets out standards and guidelines to members, joining the Association represents members' adherence to these set guidelines of best business practice.
The general day to day administration is carried out by the General Secretary of the Association.
Working Parties are formed from membership to present position and briefing documents on topics of importance as they arise.
Our Working Parties include the Herbal Working Party, the Homeopathic Working Party and the Food Supplement Working Party.
